I know you’re secretly agreeing with me! On the other hand, we found one aphrodisiac ingredients in their menu – chocolate from salted chocolate valrhona cookie! According to HowStuffWorks, consuming chocolate releases serotonin which is a chemical that make human body feels good. I’m sure you’ll like to feel really, really good on Valentine’s night. At $39 per person, for sure a Pal-entines dinner won’t break your bank. Piggy Smalls currently only takes walk-in, so it’s even better for the last-minute birds who didn’t have time to make a reservation weeks ahead.
2. Mahina and Sun’s
Being the latest in line of Ed Kenney’s restaurants, Mahina & Sun’s serves up Hawaiian fusion and contemporary American cuisine with an emphasize in local ingredients such as calamansi and fresh lilikoi. According to the restaurant’s Facebook, all the dishes will be inspired by Cupid:
“Start with the evening’s specialty love potion: a vodka-based, champagne-topped decadent cocktail we call the Lolita. Get your naughty on with the first three courses of locally-sourced Kualoa Oysters, Kaua‘i Shrimp and Gazpacho. Follow up with your choice of either Cognac-laced Duck Breast or Chili-rubbed Tenderloin. Top the night off with a sweet and sensual treat of vanilla bean panna cotta with strawberries, fresh lilikoi and local honey.
While you’re dining with your main squeeze, you’ll enjoy listening to the sultry sounds of Sandy Tsukiyama performing Bossa Nova After Dark on the Mahina lanai.”
Wow, Cognac-laced Duck Breast? Chili-rubbed Tenderloin? For sure, Mahina and Sun’s is trying its best to bring the sexy out of its foods. But is the menu really featuring love-inducing delights? Yes, oysters and shrimps are known to be some of the best aphrodisiac ingredients among all shellfish. Oysters are rich of zinc, an element that boosts testosterones in both males and females. Meanwhile, shrimps are full of iodine and amino acid which keep your sex drive healthy and active. How awesome is that! And sultry live music on the lanai (means: a porch!)? Yes, please.

Yes, our family-friendly, neighborhood favorite Zippy’s also rolls out its special Valentine’s Day Menu. While being not really a course meal, Zippy’s offers a $49.25 for 2 deal including Bacon Wrapped Filet Mignon with Shrimp Scampi, dinner roll, choice of soup/salad and either Strawberry Shortcake Fantasy, Cake Ala Mode, or Brownie Delite. The only aphrodisiac item from the menu is shrimp from the Scampi. Well, I’m surprised Zippy’s even has a Valentine’s menu (Good job!) so it is definitely more special than your daily bento Zip-Pac or chili moco.
